  4. Grapes at last and Night Market with the homies

What a seriously jam packed week!

Very happy with everything that’s going on with my life. The only thing that sucked is I hurt my foot on Monday which caused me again to miss the gym. I hate it. It makes me feel like shit. No other way to explain it. But whatever, I can’t sacrifice hurting myself even more.

Monday! So… I have a history with sneakers. As a kid, I’ve ALWAYS loved sneakers. My grandfather (who was my first best friend and a figure I looked up to) loved shoes and I’m pretty sure that had an influence on me. Growing up in the Michael Jordan and Fresh Prince era, I naturally gravitated towards Jordans. But I’m very biased towards Jordans that MJ or Will Smith rocked. The Grapes is a shoe I could never get my hands on. I had a chance in 2006 and it ended up ugly. I lined up early and it was a mess. Ppl came with guns and the workers saved way too many shoes for themselves. In a nutshell, over 300 ppl came for a sneaker release when they were only going to give away 12. But yeah, so I was excited for this year’s release. Long story short, I got reccommended to use this “RSVP” website and it didn’t work. And I don’t want to get into it cause it really pissed me off. But my homie Alan (www.twitter.com/ant_206) tracked down the Grapes for me at a reasonable price. I only ended up paying like 40 bucks more than I would have if the “rsvp” thing would have worked. SO yeahhhh, with that long introduction… My Grapes :)

    Jordan V Grapes

Some things are meant to be and some things are not. I was beginning to think that I just wasn’t meant for the sneaker. But yeahhh, you appreciate something so much more when it takes so long to acquire.

Jumping forward to Wednesday. I got my sunglasses shipped to my house! I was at Urbanity last week. Urbanity is located near U Village and it’s a real dope streetwear store! The owner took the time to talk to me about these sunglasses I was looking at. The brand is called “Super” and he was so helpful. The only problem at the store was that they didn’t have the model I liked. And he sounded like they weren’t going to get it for a while. And I’m going to Vegas next month, summer is around the corner, and I’m going to LA at the end of summer. But yeah, I LOVE these sunglasses! They are handmade from Italy and I can tell the quality when wearing the sunglasses. I found them for a DEAL on revolveclothing.com!!! And I found a code so I ended up getting the sunglasses for cheaper than I would have anywhere else including Urbanity… so it worked for me! But yeahhh, my new sunglasses!!!!

I’m so glad I never bought Ray Bans! LOL EVERYBODY and their momma got them. I never really liked that. Plus, it didn’t feel right on my face. And just having handmade sunglasses from Italy feels nice. But anywassss, I’m spending way too much money! I also bought this button up shirt but I didn’t take any photos of it. haha

On Friday, I picked up Stacey and headed over to “Skillet Diner”! One of my favorite spots in Capitol Hill to eat at! I get the “Fried Chicken Sammy” and it’s AMAZING! The fried chicken is so bomb! The jalapeno aioli is OFFICIAL!!!!!! I substitue the poutine and it’s just an overall great meal. I can never finish the poutine though… haha Stacey gets the Chicken and Waffles… It’s official! A definite must try joint!!!

After dinner, Stacey had to help her mom skype with her aunt from the Philippines. After that was settled, we headed over to “Whole Foods” for grocery shopping. I was so thirsty and got a “Arnold Palmer” from “Sweet Leaf”… So, a little over a year ago, I was visiting my sister in Bellingham when she attended Western Washington University. We hopped over to the grocery store and got these ice teas called “Sweet Leaf”. It’s an organic ice tea brand and they are SO OFFICIAL! SCREW Arizona Ice Tea or whatever. This is the real deal! The homie Lyle (Alyssa Bernal’s guitarist) told me it’s a Texas chain. It’s not really mainstream yet but it’s being distributed heavily lately. Their “Arnold Palmer” (which is not called Arnold Palmer cause Arizona copyrighted the name… it’s just half lemonade and half ice tea)… is the best! If you ever see them in your area, try it!!!!

Saturday, I had work earlier in the day. Stacey got up early and made us breakfast tacos before I had to go to work. It was bombbbb! The photo is blurry and from my phone. Double fail… LOL Sorry! But it was so delicious!
    image

The kids were awesome. I love teaching them. Afterwards, I took a brief nap then we headed over to the UW Night Market where my friends, David and Andrew Fung along with Joseph Vincent were performing. I’ve previously blogged about David and Andrew but if you didn’t see, at least check out their youtube! www.youtube.com/fungbroscomedy! I met Joseph Vincent almost 3 years ago at a show in Vancouver. I didn’t really want to meet him cause I thought he seemed arrogant on Youtube. But I couldn’t have been more wrong. Dude is real sweet! He’s a good homie and I fully support the guy. I’m homies with his manager as well, Tom Ngo. Tom’s a character, himself… hahaha Good times! Here’s some photos from the night market.

I ran into a lot of homies. The Kollaboration staff was there. Alex Hu was hosting. Jessica Hu AKA jess2sick was there. I also ran into David Beukema, Steve Kwak, Brian Franada, Kenson Lee, Alisa Kim, Anna Quach, Tammy, and more that I can’t think of. But it was great seeing everyone! I also met Fiona Dawn through Andrew and David. Planning on linking up about work in the future. Really good seeing the homies David and Andrew get more known. I’ve known these dudes longer than anyone else on Youtube and I’m very proud of them.

I didn’t take any photos of Joe cause it got so dark… LOL I’ll post a photo from 6 months ago so the girls have something handsome to look at.. :P subscribe to him, if you haven’t! www.youtube.com/hoorahjencar

After the show, we were craving bubble tea cause of David and Andrew’s song “Bobalife”… so we hopped over to Mee Sum on the Ave and got some food and bubble tea! We ordered Fried Rice, Popcorn chicken meal, HK Style Milk Tea, Jasmine Milk Tea… it was all pretty good!

Sunday is Mother’s Day. We planned on having Brazilian cause we went on my mom’s birthday and she loved it. She wanted to go again. Stacey and I love Brazilian food! Our favorite is “Fogo De Chao” and they have them all over. Unfortunately, they don’t have one in Seattle. BUT, we have an awesome place called “The Grill from Ipanema”… it’s located in Belltown and it’s SO MUCH better than “Ipanema” (which explains why they closed)… But yeah, I only took one photo cause we were so busy eating! LOL Meat for days!

The food was so good. My gf is pretty awesome, she got my mom flowers from Pike Place and they were beautiful!!!!!

After our meal, I KOed for like 30 minutes… What a power nap! After my nap, I took my sister to the mall to pick out her birthday present. She wanted a Seahawks jersey, so I got her one. I’ll upload pics next week. My sister’s birthday and my gf’s birthday is next weekend!

Stacey definitely puts in so much work for us. She’s amazing. Here’s a pic of us from the Night Market. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  7. Another week of amazing life!

Monday was CRAZY! Jason Collins became the first active professional male athlete to come out of the closet. To be honest, good for him but his personal life should be none of our business. I hope he lives happily cause he seems like a good dude. I hated him when he was at Stanford cause I’m a husky for life!!!!! SECOND: The NBA owners voted on the relocating of the Sacramento Kings to Seattle and they recommended them not to move. I came to the conclusion that I don’t support the NBA any longer until we have a team in Seattle. I love basketball and that’ll never change. But the NBA is a business and it’s a business I don’t support right now. I’m not mad at the city of Sacramento… they did what was necessary. I’m not even really mad at the owners… it’s politics. The ppl who have the most power don’t find Seattle a priority. And the ppl of Seattle, I know we want a team. But I know way too many ppl from here who want a team just as badly as I do… but then when we don’t get a team, they still watch all the NBA games, buy NBA apparel, spend time at restaurants and bars watching NBA games… I don’t agree with that. I can’t do this any longer and I’m just fed up with the NBA… ENOUGH ABOUT THAT! J. Cole dropped “Cole Summer” on Monday as well! That was the high point of that day… hahaha

Tuesday: J. Cole dropped his “Truly Yours 2” EP! I really love J. Cole as an artist. He’s one of those guys that makes me want to be a better rapper. I feel a lot of the stuff he says. I don’t know what my favorite joint on the record is but I really like “Chris Tucker”. I don’t get why that wasn’t saved for the album. It sounds like it would have been a club record or something. But yeah… maybe some sample issues.

Through the rest of the weekdays, it was mainly work. And without giving away too much details, I just want to say that I’m glad that working hours for months on events for my students led to selling out spaces quickly. Love connecting with them.

Friday, my gf didn’t have work and we decided to grab an early brunch at Toulouse Petit! I dropped by SUPER early cause she was awake from dropping her parents off at the airport. They went to Vegas for their anniversary, which is awesome! I love Vegas… can’t wait to go in June… ANYWAYS! We dropped by Honore before we went to Toulouse’s brunch happy hour. Honore has the best macarons in Seattle! Their Pistachio maracons are CRACKKKKKKKKKK! MUST TRY IF YOU HAVEN’T!!!

    Honore Artisan Bakery
    1413 NW 70th St
    Seattle, WA 98117

Honore is in Ballard, so it was pretty quick drive over to Toulouse in Queen Anne! We dropped by the Happy Hour, which is SUPER official! It’s kind of a early brunch series that Stacey wants as her “birthday meal”… So yeahhh, this is part 1! lol I let her pick what she wanted to eat and we just split it! We got the Eggs Hussarde Egges Benedict with Veal Shallot Pan Sauce, Croque Madame, and some French Press coffee. I’ve tried the Eggs Hussarde before and it’s awesomeeeeee! The Croque Madame was amazing as well! Their food is just great in general! Toulouse is pretty much my favorite restaurant in Seattle.

    Toulouse Petit
    601 Queen Anne Ave N
    Seattle, WA 98119

Food is too official! I wore my All Saints shirt for the first time so I took a pic outside of Toulouse. I was paranoid when I was eating… hahaha

After Toulouse, we headed back up North. We stopped by Best Buy cause I wanted to buy “Silver Linings Playbook”. I love that movie and it was my favorite out of all the Oscar nominated films this year. After picking that Blu Ray up, we hopped over to the Loews AMC at Alderwood to catch “Iron Man 3”!

    Ferragamos on my feet!

It was really good! I can tell that Jon Favreau didn’t direct it… but I still enjoyed it. After the credits, it was funny. I like the little clips Marvel have after the movies! After the movies, we walked around Alderwood Mall and looked at house items. LOL Yeahhhh, that grown life! jk Then we took a nap. After our nap, we were trying to find what we wanted for dinner. I’ve been craving lasagna super badly. Her dad had lasagna like the last 7 times I saw him! That just made me crave it super badly! HAHAHA I didn’t want to drive back to Seattle so Stacey suggested Olive Garden and when I found out what their “Tour of Italy” meal consisted of, i was more than sold! She had the 5 Cheese Ziti and I had the Tour of Italy that included Lasagna, Fettucini Alfredo, and Chicken Parmagiana… SO GOOOOOOOOOD! Her Ziti also came with a free Spaghetti (to-go… we ended up eating it for dinner on Sunday!)

    Olive Garden
    Find one near you! LOL

The meal hit the spot!!!! Afterwards, we watched Silver Linings Playbook! Stacey hadn’t watched it yet and I really wanted her too! :) She also got me these cookies from Hawaii and they were SOOOOO GOOD! They’re from this company called “Honolulu Cookie Company” and I had the Macadamia and Milk Chocolate… and also the Coffee and White Chocolate! They are so LEGITTTTTT!

Saturday: Stacey wanted to try this Mexican food truck in Ballard called “El Camion”. So, we went to try it out during lunch. It was good, I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it. Mainly cause there’s so many Mexican spots in Kent. But if you’re in the area and want authentic Mexican food, try it! We got both got Fish Tacos, Carne Asada Tacos, and Cochinita Tacos. I had a Mexican coke and Stacey had the horchata. Their horchata is not good, don’t waste your money on it!

    El Camion
    5314 15th Ave NW
    Seattle, WA 98107

The Desert Queen always strikes! She wanted ice cream and we were going to head to U Village after so we stop by Molly Moon’s in Wallingford. Molly Moon’s is probably the most popular local ice cream spot in the Seattle area. It’s really good but Seattle ppl are so defensive over it. It’s like Dick’s burgers as well… hahahaha Personally, Lick PC is my favorite ice cream spot in Seattle but we weren’t near Capital Hill and traffic was HORRIBLE! But yeah, I got the Stumptown Coffee and Maple Walnut. I split flavors in a single scoop on their waffle cone! I love how Molly Moon’s has Stumptown Coffee ice cream and Bluebird has Caffe Vita ice cream… Love the rivalry thing!!!!

    Molly Moon’s
    1622 1/2 N 45th St
    Seattle, WA

We dropped by “Urbantiy” before U Vill and I saw these DOPEEEEE sunglasses but they didn’t have frames I wanted. The owner was nice enough to brief me on the history on them. I became obsessed with them as I was leaving. Shout out to Urbanity for the hospitality! But yeahhhh, I was so drained while we were hanging out in U Vill, so I picked up a coffee and snickerdoodle cookie. Stacey suggested it cause I LOVE snickerdoodle! I didn’t even see it… I was that TIRED! LOL We picked it up at “Specialty’s Cafe & Bakery”.

    Specialty’s Cafe & Bakery
    2690 NE Village Ln
    Seattle, WA 98105

We headed over to “Whole Foods” after U Vill for grocery shopping. Stacey cooked jambalaya from scratch while I watched the Mayweather fight! LOL Well, the food was done halfway through the fight. I’ll say this about Mayweather. He’s a douche but he’s really good. But his fights are so boring. He’s like the Tim Duncan of boxing. He’s so great but so damn boring to watch. But the jambalaya was SO GOOOOOOOOOOD! Stacey deserves so much props for this one! I love jambalaya and it was her first time making it! It had andoulle sausage and was made with brown rice! YUMMMMMMMMM!

While shopping at “Whole Foods”, Stacey saw this mochi ice cream brand that she tried in Hawaii. So, we bought some to eat for desert. It was really good! Compared to the mochi ice cream that EVERYONE gets (including me)… I like the portion of mochi to ice cream on this one better. The other one has too much ice cream. But yeahhhh, try it and figure out which one you like better! :)

    Bubbies Mango Mochi Ice Cream

After dinner, I began searching for the sunglasses I couldn’t cop at Urbanity. I found them on revolveclothing.com and got them for cheaper than I could have anywhere else. I’m FREAKING EXCITED! I held off on Ray Bans cause EVERYBODY has them. I’m so glad I did…. I’ll post pics of them next week!

Sunday: We’ve been planning to go to the Food Truck Rodeo since we went for the first time last year. It’s just an event where over 30 food trucks are in one spot and it’s just a fun event for foodies. We figure out what we want to get before we even go… we’re just OCD like that. hahahah We split fish tacos from Fish Basket, a deluxe grilled cheese sandwich from The Grilled Cheese Experience, and BBQ Pulled Pork Tacos from Off the Rez! The fish tacos are SO BOMB! It’s a fish and chips food truck and their fish was just awesome! The deluxe grilled cheese had smoked bacon, avocado, sun dried tomatoes, cheddar cheese on sour dough bread and it wassss one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve ever had! The Pork tacos from Off the Rez was SO OFFICIAL! Off the Rez is a Native American-Mexican fusion spot and it was just so good. The addresses will be of where the food trucks are normally at. Thankfully, all of these trucks were in one spot for today!

    Fish Basket
    24036 17th Ave S
    Des Moines, WA 98198

    The Grilled Cheese Experience
    4915 Rainier Ave S
    Seattle, WA 98118

    Off the Rez
    Varies

Only two downfalls of this trip. It was WAY too packed. The walkway was way too narrow for how many ppl were there. I wish they picked a different spot. And our desert was decent but it was way too overpriced. My root beer float cost 5 bucks and they didn’t even give me the can of root beer. I thought they were going to when I purchased it… but yeah. That’s about it. I love the Food Truck Rodeo though! My sister came through and it was nice to see her! She took a photo for me and Stacey haha

Concords on my feet! I used to be a sneakerhead. I don’t really buy too many anymore. But yeahhh, I love the 11’s!

We took a nap afterwards. I was trying to catch up on sleep cause I didn’t get any on Friday. Kind of worked? lol We had leftovers from Olive Garden for dinner on Sunday. Stacey got this candle from “Anthropologie” and it’s AWESOME! I love it! It’s a Huckleberry smell.

    Have a great week everyone!

NEW MUSIC: J. Cole - Cole Summer

    J. Cole dropped a new track for the world tonight titled “Cole Summer.” He raps over a sample of Lauryn Hill’s “Nothing Even Matters.”

So let me just say this, I love this man. He keeps it real in every single track he makes. I usually put up the lyrics to the songs I post, but this is a freshly new song and I don’t feel like typing all the lyrics out. Buttttttt, he talks about how this song isn’t going to be on his sophomore album coming out on June 25 - Born Sinner. Talkin’ bout hittin’ the strip clubs with Drake, but “the difference is I’m (J.Cole) throwing 4, he (drizzy) throwing 50.” He also cracks jokes askin’ Lauryn Hill not to sue him because he used the sample because he’s not like those rappers who got it because he don’t got it like that. Either way, he talks about the struggle even after his first album “Cole World: The Sideline Story” (which was AMAZING to me and a lot of Cole fans in the world). Talks about dreams of Tia and Tamera Mowry.. haha which made me laugh. So once again, J.Cole gets real in this track givin’ us all more anticipation for his next album. I can’t wait. This man’s the real deal.. true rapper and lyrically ready for the world. Whoever isn’t a J. Cole fan…. NEEDS TO BE (I’m bias though)!

Drake even supported the track by his tweet:

“COLE SUMMER!!! Haaaaa. That’s my brother man. Bars too real. Too ill.” - @Drake

ALSO: J. Cole even tweeted shortly after the release of “Cole Summer,” that he will be releasing another EP, “Truly Yours 2.”

“Fuck it. Truly Yours 2 tomorrow. You Deserve it.” - @JColeNC

  10. Why So Much Hate?

I usually don’t blog on the weekdays… BUT

I don’t rock with straight ppl saying that gay ppl are wrong for being gay. I’ve seen a plethora of comments from ppl saying that Jason Collins is in the wrong. It’s been mostly extremely religious ppl. I can’t throw everyone’s who is religious under the bus but I can’t rock with ppl who try to claim that the way they view life is correct and other ppl are wrong for being different.

I don’t have close gay friends. Unless I don’t know that they are gay. I know gay ppl. But I’ve never had the opportunity to get to know gay ppl that closely. But at the same time, I’m not going to sit here and say that they’re wrong. I don’t support taking their rights away. Y’all crazy… and whoever thinks that is not someone I want to be associated with.

Certain religious ppl piss me off. Saying that “God” doesn’t accept them or that “God” doesn’t love them. They’re trying to create a situation where gay ppl can’t be religious. That’s unacceptable to me. I don’t go to church, but preventing ppl from being a part of a community is wrong in my opinion.

On another note: I hate the NBA and their politics. I don’t want to talk about it no more for today cause it’ll just be a bunch of curse words. But I don’t support that league until we have a team and I don’t support these white dudes who unanimously put their foot down today. Cause if memory serves me correctly, the OKC move was approved by every owner but TWO! Paul Allen and Mark Cuban. I rock with y’all… but FUCK the NBA.
